Beth Vigil is a phenomenal music teacher. My children have been taking lessons with her for eight years. They have studied acoustic guitar, piano, violin, electric bass, voice and music theory. Under Beth's guidance my children have gained a knowledge and love for music and performing. Beth has always encouraged and challenged my children to do their best. My children have grown so much because of her dedication and love of teaching. CJ |
Just learning letter sounds was a difficult and painful process for our son. Just about every aspect of school was a struggle for him. Memorization and recall were so difficult, just asking him to repeat letter sounds he just said would send him into a panic. 4 years ago (at 13 yrs), he was gifted his grandfather’s guitar. He was so excited to have Grandpa’s guitar, he couldn’t wait to learn to play. With an eagerness to learn I hadn’t seen before, we started guitar lessons with Mrs. Beth Vigil. I won’t say he didn’t struggle with learning guitar, but it certainly came easier than anything else he had learned up to that point.
As he improved with guitar, I began to see other areas of his schoolwork come easier. Remarkably, after the first year of guitar lesson, he tested 4 grades higher in reading and math than the previous year. Last year, he tested at grade level for the first time. Along with an overall academic improvement, day to day, I can tell when guitar practice has been ignored, verses when he plays. Learning new concepts and recall of previously learned lessons come must easier when the guitar is played regularly, than when it is not. SC |
I am one of Beth Vigil’s older students that started when I was 55 years old. At that time, I could not sing a single note. Worse yet, I could not even hear the note pitch to know if I was on key. For some time, I thought I might be so bad at singing that Ms. Vigil would actually give up music. However, she kept working with me and never failed to encourage me to keep moving forward. My initial goal was to be able to actually sing a song at church, as almost everyone else could do this – but me. That was accomplished in under six months. Later, I learned to hear the notes and match the pitch. Now, I have almost a three octave vocal range.
After taking lessons about a year, my goal changed. I decided to learn songs in Mandarin, Chinese. The first song took a long time to learn, as I could not even speak conversational Mandarin. However, you should have seen the eyes open wide, when in China at dinner, an American could sing one of their songs in Mandarin. Almost instantly, the Chinese saw me as their friend, as no other American had taken the time to learn one of their songs.
Now I can sing eight songs in Manadarin. This last trip to China for the first time I went to Karaoke with the business group. Out of the eight people singing, I was able to out perform three of them and they were all native Mandarin speakers. Since the other four were fantastic singers, I was very happy with this outcome. However, my goal is to go back and do even better.
I owe all of this to Ms. Vigil’s constant help and training. I would strongly recommend that anyone, even someone who has the least musical talent like me, would greatly improve from her teaching.

I was a nurse in the Army.
I served for 22 years and did one tour in Afghanistan. I received several injuries plus a brain injury and severe PTSD. My cognitive thinking has been compromised so I felt piano lessons would help with my thinking capabilities. I always wanted to learn to play piano since I was a child. We moved a lot because my father was in the Air force and lessons couldn't be done. I started with Ms. Elizabeth and I love piano I feel my dream came true even at the age of 62. My grandchildren twin girls age 8 have started with lessons after school . They love Ms. Elizabeth and they have a recital coming up they are so excited. A loving heart makes a good music teacher, that's Ms. Elizabeth. SP |
Our daughter has been taking piano lessons from Mrs.Vigil
for over a year now. She loves and adores Mrs.Vigil and looks forward to seeing her every week at lessons. Mrs.Vigil creates an atmosphere where her students are learning not only how to play an instrument but how music relates to multiple areas of one's life, such as good practices and habits for life, or how one can find math or any other academic area in music. Mrs.Vigil's positive and encouraging attitude when working with her students fosters an environment for students to feel safe and secure to develop their skills by feeling safe to make mistakes and learn from them. We would highly recommend Mrs.Vigil to anyone she is a wonderful person both personally and professionally. JJ |
Beth loves teaching children, she is patient, kind and creative in her approach, adapting to the student rather than expecting the student to adapt to her. She continually challenges, but knows when to fall back to an easier lesson to give the student the success they need to move forward, developing greater skills as they go. I highly recommend her.

At 60, I’ve started my lifelong goal of playing the piano. My chosen teacher, Beth Vigil has been exactly what I needed to accomplish that goal. Her patience, sense of humor and calm easy going style of teaching has allowed me (after only 2 months of lessons) already to play beautiful music. I look forward to my lessons every week and would highly recommend Beth!

Studying music for the past five years has provided the opportunity to learn how to set goals and achieve them through perseverance and hard work. It has helped my academic performance and allows me time to relax while enjoying the sounds of the piano. Mrs. Beth has always been a great music teacher, but even a better role model. Even though my musical progress has been noticeable, my favorite times are when the two of us get lost in laughter in our weekly lesson. I am grateful for the time and energy she has invested in me. Not only is she my piano teacher, but a reliable friend.

I have been going to High plains music school with Mrs. Vigil since I was five. I play guitar and sing and I have learned so many things by going to lessons. Mrs. Vigil makes lessons so fun but also you are learning so much! Because of Mrs. Vigil I have won Grand Champion in the performing arts contest at the Colorado State Fair, I have placed many times at the Stars of Tomorrow annual talent show, and I have had the confidence to perform in my school talent show every year. She is a great person but also a great teacher! I hope with the help of Mrs. Vigil that I will someday become a songwriter and singer. Without her I would not have the skill or confidence to perform in front of a crowd. I love music so much and I am so thankful to be able to have Mrs. Vigil teaching me knew things every lesson, whether it is about music, or life skills, either way she is a great teacher! I believe that anybody who wants to become a better instrument player, singer, or a performer in general would enjoy and learn so much from Mrs. Vigil’s lessons. MR
